In order to correctly place a putt from outside the green, you must be aware of the type of shot you would like to have statistically recorded.
If it is a pure putt and the green from which the ball was played has a very high quality, then it can make sense to fine the shot as a "putt with the putter" - then choose type "putt".
If you want to include the shot as an approach shot and not as a putt in the statistics, then you should record the shot as "Chip with putter" - then use type "Chip".
